Weekly's male staff sign charity's vow

Male staff at a Welsh weekly have signed a charity’s pledge aimed at eradicating domestic violence.

Colleagues at the Carmarthen Journal gave their backing to the White Ribbon campaign’s Not in My Name pledge, vowing not to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

Members of the Journal’s editorial, advertising and circulation departments signed a pledge book which will be based at its offices for readers to add their name to the cause.

The campaign was first launched in Canada in 1991.

Journal news editor Lee MacGregor, pictured above signing the pledge above with colleagues, said: “The Not in My Name is a great campaign because it reaches out to every man and boy to make a stand against violence towards women and children.”
