Readers’ letters have always played a vital part in local newspapers and no doubt will continue to do so, even if they are more likely to be sent electronically these days than handwritten.

But surely printing a reader’s covering letter, as the Leek Post and Times appears to have done here, is taking the drive for user-generated content a bit too far?
