Northcliffe completes line-up of big-city publishers

A digital media company boss is to join Northcliffe as the head of its newspaper publishing operations in Bristol.

Alan Renwick, currently owner of  Kew Enterprises, has been appointed Publisher of Bristol News and Media Limited, whose titles include the Bristol Evening Post.

The move completes the line-up of publishers to run Northcliffe’s four big-city titles.

It follows the appointment of Steve Hollingsworth as publisher of Nottingham Post Media Group, David Simms as publisher for the Leicester Mercury Media Group, and Mike Pennington as publisher for Mail News and Media in Hull.

Alan began his career at Grampian TV as an analyst in 1987 and has held management positions for publishers including Southern Newspapers, Thomson Regional Newspapers, Mirror Group and TSL Education.

As founder of leading consulting firm Ocean Strategy he has also advised many of the major media groups, focusing on developing and implementing growth and turnaround strategies.

Alan will join Northcliffe Media on Tuesday 2 August.  Together with the other three publishers he will report directly to group managing director Steve Auckland.

I see they mention that all the major centres are now “sorted” what about the South East Region?
On a lighter note it will be interesting to see a “consultant” doing more than a “hit and run” exercise and taking all of the credit!
