A campaigning weekly editor has moved to a new group editor role in charge of a series of North London titles.

Martin Buhagiar, previously editor of the St Albans and Harpenden Review, has become group editor of Newsquest’s North London Times and Independent series, based at Hendon.

Titles in the series include the Hendon and Finchley Times, Edgware and Mill Hill Times, Barnet and Potters Bar Times, Borehamwood Times, Harrow Times, Enfield Independent and Haringey Independent

The moves follows the departure of Rachel Sharp, who left the company on Friday, after just over two years as group editor at Hendon.

Anthony Longden, managing editor of the Newsquest North & East London division, said: “Rachel is a tough act to follow, but Martin’s skills and campaigning flair means our North London titles and their websites will continue to go from strength to strength.”

As well as editing the Review, 34-year-old Martin was also deputy group editor of the company’s Hertfordshire titles.
