New weekly jobs paper to take on regional daily

Two brothers are set for a David v Goliath battle with one of Britain’s biggest regional dailies after setting up a new weekly jobs newspaper

Zaradan Rumbelow and his brother Luke will launch The Jobseeker in partnership with recruitment agency PNS Personel tomorrow – with 30,000 copies available to pick-up free from a range of outlets across Norfolk.

The new start-up will compete for recruitment advertising with Archant’s Norwich-based Eastern Daily Press, currently the biggest-selling regional morning title in England.

Zaradan claimed the new title would offer “better value to advertisers” than the EDP, saying that was why it had been set up.

The two brothers have previously launched another publication in the city, The Local Paper, and Zaradan spent time working for Archant as a distribution co-ordinator until around a month ago.

He said: “This is an alternative and the response we have had has been quite dramatic.

“Businesses are struggling and when they want to recruit, they are struggling because of how expensive it is to have an advert.”

The new title aims to publish around 12 pages of vacancies each week and will also have an online presence.

Competition is always good and why should the EDP have the monopoly in Norfolk. The winners here are people like me who now have a choice where to place my advert and for a decent price for once! good concept The Jobseeker. well done who ever you are…
