An online archive of thousands of UK websites dating back to 2004 has been launched by the British Library.

It contains blogs and specific sections for different topics and coverage of major news events such as the Boxing Day Tsunami.

The British Journal of Photography has relaunched itself as a monthy magazine – after 146 years as a weekly.

Founded in 1854 as monthly, the BJP switched to weekly publication a decade later and this Wednesday will see its first new-look monthly edition.

The Northern Echo is backing a local wristband campaign aimed at helping injured soldiers and the families of those killed in action.

The move follows the recent visit to Afghanistan by Echo reporter Will Roberts.

Proceeds from the wristbands go directly to helping injured soldiers from 3Rifles or the families of those killed in action.

3Rifles recruits a third of its solders from the North East and North Yorkshire.

This year’s St Patrick’s Day will see a host of speakers gather to discuss local journalism in London.

This event aims to highlight the importance of robust news coverage for local democracy and will propose concrete steps to halt the decline in local news.

It runs from 2pm to 4pm on 17 March in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House, in Bridge Street.

The National Union of Journalists is running a pilot pre-retirement seminar for its members later this month.

Run by NUJ independent financial advisers IFS, the event will offer advice on planning for retirement and cover topics like different pensions and tax free lump sums.
