Scenes of young, sophisticated types enjoying a glass of Chablis as they put the world to rights may be becoming a thing of the past.

Research suggests that the 25 to 34 age range are deserting the grape, leading to a slump in sales.

Concerns over healthy living and binge drinking along with heavy taxation on booze are cited as possible causes by consumer research group Mintel.
