The Scotsman has launched a new website dedicated to lovers of the country’s national drink.

whisky.scotsman.com aims to be the definitive place to discover everything about the famous spirit.

The launch message reads: “With whisky writing from Scotland’s top journalists, expert business coverage and up to the minute news, Scotsman Whisky offers an insight into the fascinating world of this historic spirit as it advances into the 21st century.

“Whisky may be regarded as the ‘world’s most complex spirit’, but our aim is to make it as simple and enjoyable as possible.”

Among the information on offer is an interactive map showing the nation’s distilleries by area, a blog with contributions from Scotsman reporter Fiona MacGregor, a history section, shop and competitions.

The site was built in-house by the Johnston Press team based in Edinburgh.
