Training body gives green light to four journalism courses

Four courses accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists have shown they continue to deliver excellent training – winning the NCTJ stamp of approval.

The University of Sheffield’s MA/PgDip in Print Journalism; the NCTJ Certificate in Journalism (Sub-editing) offered at Brighton Journalist Works; the NCTJ Multi-Media Foundation Course in Journalism, delivered by Press Association Training in Newcastle, and Warwickshire College’s NCTJ Pre-entry Certificate in Newspaper Journalism all had their certification extended by the accrediting body.

Panels comprising senior figures at the NCTJ and experienced editors visit each centre of learning and inspect courses, to ensure the gold standard required by the NCTJ is being met. Recommendations for accreditation renewals were approved at an NCTJ board meeting earlier this month.

There are now 70 NCTJ-accredited journalism training courses at 42 centres of learning – 22 universities, 13 further education colleges and seven private providers – across the UK.
