The shortlist for the EDF Energy East of England Media Awards is revealed today.
The contest saw more than 200 entries from print and broadcast media submitted.
They have been whittled down to a final few by the judging panel, with the winners to be revealed at a ceremony at Whipsnade Zoo on January 31.
Topping the nominations list is the Cambridge Evening News, last year’s winner of the Daily Newspaper of the Year award, with seven chances for success this time around. The Ipswich Star and Peterborough Evening Telegraph are each nominated for five awards.
BBC Look East has six nominations, filling all four shortlist places in the Television Journalist of the Year category.
Among the weekly newspapers, the Cambs Times has three nominations across thethreefour, with two from the Evening Star up against the Cambridge Evening News.
Another popular category was Newcomer of the Year, where Tom Jackson, from the Cambs Times, Natalie Bowyer of The Hunts Post and Asha Mehta, from the Peterborough Evening Telegraph make up the shortlist.
The presentation ceremony will include a lunch and drinks, courtesy of the awards sponsors EDF Energy, and the individual winners will pick up a trophy and £100.
