Charles Scatchard, a retired Yorkshire Evening Post golf and rugby union writer, has died at the age of 88.

The former RAF officer, a popular figure on golf and rugby union grounds around the country, died at his Oxfordshire home.

He leaves a widow and two daughters. His family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to go to the Mozambique Flood Relief Appeal.
