Prizes for hard-working pupils
by HoldTheFrontPage staff

Children who do well at school are being rewarded with cash vouchers to spend on computer goodies by their local paper.

The Hull Daily Mail is dishing out hundreds of pounds in conjunction with a computer firm.

As part of its Moving On Up II education campaign, the Mail is aiming to reward not just the high-flyers but also those who have shown commitment to realising their potential for forthcoming GCSE and GNVQ exams,

Every head teacher in the area is being asked to nominate a pupil to receive a £100 prize.

Out-of-school activities and involvement in the community are considered as much as the academic side.

Moving On Up II supports teachers, pupils, parents and the local education authority in their drive to improve GCSE attainment and is backed by Hull Association of Secondary Headteachers.

The latest winner, Matthew Musgrave, from Sir Henry Cooper School, showed great commitment to his studies and extra-curricular activities. He has been working hard for his exams, taking extra revision classes and hopes to go on to college to study information technology or engineering.
