Mum Dawn Gray is only half the woman she used to be – thanks to a photograph which appeared in the Aberdeen Evening Express.

The mum-of-two from Kintore was so horrified by a picture of herself which appeared in the paper just weeks after she gave birth to her second daughter in January, 1999, that she pledged to diet.

Since then, she has shed seven stones – nearly half her body weight.

Mrs Gray said: “I saw the photo in the Evening Express and couldn’t believe it. I looked big, fat and ugly. I was feeling quite good after giving birth, until I saw the photo. I knew than that something had to be done.”

Dawn featured in the newspaper after her midwife sister-in-law delivered baby Emily. The birth was also special as it was less than 18 months after dad Alex went through a vasectomy reversal.
