Media Trust survey will help charities communicate

The Media Trust is undertaking a research project to assess the current and future communication needs of the voluntary and community sectors.

The survey is being done by the organisation that helps charities communicate on behalf of the Active Community Unit of the Home Office.

It is hoped the outcome will result in improved communications between charities and the press, PR agencies and voluntary groups amongst other organisations.

Media Trust fundraising co-ordinator Jeannie Rigby said: “The survey is looking across the voluntary and community sector to assess how organisations can be better helped to communicate outwardly.

“We hope to find out what type of communication training – whether individual, coaching or mentoring for example – is best for specific needs.

Jeannie said the Media Trust will be using its own mailing list to contact organisations for the survey, but is also asking groups to e-mail her to take part.

She said: “We need to hear from people as soon as possible. All respondents will be entered into a draw to receive a free place at a Media Trust training seminar.

“The Media Trust has a big programme of training events providing different methods of help for charities. We have a matching system where we match media professionals with an organisation for specific help.”
