Journalists' mountain task

Journalists at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner are planning a rock climbing expedition to raise money for a children’s charity.

Reporters Rosey Hamilton and Jenny Parkin, sub-editor John Avison and Graham Brown, who works in editorial production, plan to tackle all 14 peaks in Snowdonia that are higher than 3,000ft.

The trek is more than 30 miles long and the group hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the Laura Crane Trust, a charity that helps young cancer suffers.

Organiser John said: “This is not going to be a gentle stroll.

“The total climbing is the equivalent of the trip from Everest base camp to the summit.”

The trip is planned for the weekend of June 15 and 16 and to help the desk-bound journalists get in shape local health club Fitness First has offered them free health assessments and membership.
