Panto stars help Sunshine Fund

Panto stars have lent their support to the Sunshine Fund – the Newcastle Evening Chronicle appeal which helps sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in the North East.

Families have been packing out the Tyne Theatre’s production of Sleeping Beauty, which features former Newcastle player Peter Beardsley.

Judith Lyons, of the theatre, said: “The production has gone down really well and every show has been very well supported.

“We are delighted to be supporting the Sunshine Fund as we know the work it does in the North East. We hope to be able to donate £10,000 by the end of the show’s run.”

Sleeping Beauty also stars Home and Away’s Kate Ritchie and Libby Davison from The Bill.

The Chronicle gave away 900 tickets for the opening night at the Westgate Road theatre. It will run until January 9.
