The Slough Express is teaming up with a local shopping centre to bring a new-look toy appeal to the town.
The project means that toys donated in the annual appeal will go directly to a local child, thanks to the new concept of The Giving Tree.
Among the decorations on the tree will be gift tags, each with the Christmas gift wish of a child written on them.
People will then be able to buy a gift, write their message on the tag and make a child’s Christmas extra special.
Queensmere shopping centre manager Paul Briggs said: “We are really excited about the giving tree and pleased to be working with the Express, NSPCC and Microsoft.
“I see this as a catalyst – bringing the town centre together with your newspaper to do a lot of good.”
Gifts donated to the Giving Tree will reach children in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, who would otherwise go without.
