Staff at a West Wales weekly swung into action after a tragic double drowning happened on their patch the day after they went to press.

The three-strong news team at the Cardigan-based Tivy-Side Advertiser produced a four-page special edition wrap in just three hours – complete with pictures and interviews with the victims’ family plus local reaction – which was printed and back on sale in the area that night.

Editor Aneurin Evans said: “It was a real example of local journalism at its very best.

“At 9am we didn’t even know the names of the victims – but by noon it was all wrapped up and on the press.

“I can’t praise my team highly enough.”
