Outspoken journalist to be guest of honour at awards

Ian Hislop is to be guest of honour at this year’s Yorkshire Bank Northern Business Journalist of the Year Awards.

The outspoken journalist will speak at the awards dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Leeds on November 20 when the winners of seven business categories will be announced.

The Private Eye editor is expected to speak about his varied media career which also includes his role as a team captain on Have I Got News For You, and as a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph.

This is the fourth year Yorkshire Bank has run the awards, which are open to all journalists and media who cover business and are based in the north of England, from the Trent to the Scottish border.

Each of the seven categories has a prize of £1,000 and awards will be handed out for Newspaper of the Year; Magazine of the Year; New Media Outlet of the Year; Daily Newspaper Journalist of the Year; Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year; Magazine Journalist of the Year and Broadcast Journalist of the Year.
