Daily colleagues nominated for prestigious business photography award

Two photographers working for the same regional daily have been shortlisted for a prestigious business photojournalism prize.

Simon Hulme and James Hardisty, who work for the Yorkshire Post, have been shortlisted in the Bloomberg Business Photographer of the Year category at the UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards.

The shortlisted portfolios included pictures of York Gin, by James, and Sheffield Forgemasters, pictured below, by Simon, which were taken for the Post’s Yorkshire Vision business magazine and Business Tuesday supplement.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in London next month.

Post deputy editor Ian Day said: “The UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards showcase the very best of press photography from across the country.

“To have both Simon and James shortlisted in the same category demonstrates how highly skilled and talented they both are delivering first class photography to the pages of the Yorkshire Post.”

Liverpool Echo chief photographer Colin Lane is also shortlisted in the Regional Photographer of the Year category.

Colin posted on Twitter that he was “made up to be nominated” for the award.
