Herald heads shortlist for Scottish Press Awards

Glasgow’s Herald and Times Group heads the shortlist for the 32nd Scottish Press Awards which will be held next month.

The titles, which include The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times, are up for 20 awards across 19 categories.

Scotsman Publications is also well represented with 19 shortlist places across The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News.

The winners of the awards, which are run by the Scottish Newspaper Society, will be presented at a ceremony at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on 21 April.

Six titles will fight it out for the Weekly Newspaper of the Year award – the Highland News, The Northern Scot, Fife Free Press, The Falkirk Herald, The Shetland Times, and The Inverness Courier

There is no shortlist for the Newspaper of the Year or Journalist of the Year awards, with the winner being announced at the ceremony.

Last year, The Herald took the prize for the best newspaper.
