A 29-stone aerobics instructor – who shot to fame through the pages of the Burton Mail and its sister paper the Burton and South Derbyshire Advertiser – has now hit the small screen.

Jody Bunting (22) who runs fitness classes at the Doveside Social Club has been the subject of a German television documentary and on British television chat show Trisha since the Mail first discovered him.

Jody has made a career out of the belief that you can be fat, happy and extremely popular.

He told the Mail that his fiancee Raelene met him when he was 10 stone: “Now I’m almost 20 stone heavier. But as she said on Trisha, she loves me even more now.”

The couple are celebrating the birth of their first child three months ago.
