The Dorset Echo and our sister paper the Bridport and Lyme Regis News are looking for trainee reporters to join our award-winning team.
We are looking for NCTJ qualified reporters who have strong news gathering, shorthand and writing ability as well as the digital skills to operate in a fast-paced and evolving industry.
The successful candidates will be joining a small, dedicated team covering a wide range of news and features in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
It is a proven training ground for reporters starting out on their career and three former trainees gained their first editorships in the past year.
Some weekend and evening work will be required.
· Finding and writing stories
· Taking pictures and video
· Actively promoting your stories on social media.
A clean driving licence and use of a car are necessary for this role.
The role includes all the benefits of working for Newsquest including 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) and a contributory pension scheme.
