Company Description

Great Britain’s most exciting young press agency, Media Drum World is a bespoke media content supplier to the world’s most well-known publishers. We specialise in international picture-video syndication, and the production of real-life feature stories.

From our global network of independent journalists, photographers and videographers, we source and supply word-picture-video content to the UK national newspapers, broadcasters, book publishers, commercial clients and international media outlets.

Our skilled editorial team works closely with media clients, public relations professionals and members of the public to ensure our carefully chosen stories are placed with world-renowned news, magazine and TV/broadcast brands.

The company is renowned for the original and attractive themes it presents to clients, and as such we are experiencing an exciting period of expansion. We are now looking for a talented professional to lead our dynamic team of journalists.

Job Description:

An experienced press/photo agency professional is required for this role. From our office in the heart of buzzing Central Birmingham, you can take on the role of managing the Media Drum World editorial team.

A typical day will mean ensuring content is distributed to publishers each morning, developing original feature ideas both independently and alongside staff reporters, liaising with London-based, national and international clients and partners, pitching exclusive content to newspapers and magazines, closing sales, taking overall responsibility for the company social media output, monitoring the publication of our material. You will always be thinking of how to push the creative boundaries of what can be published.

Crucially you will ensure that our excellent content is supplied to our clients to the highest standard, without fail. Experience of sourcing video is particularly desirable.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished ideas-generator, with the confidence and skills necessary to enable our editorial team to make the most of their own abilities and ideas. Not only will the candidate have a sound sense of what works editorially, but they will have the business acumen needed to turn excellent content into revenue for the agency. They must be able to manage the office professionally, motivate colleagues, and handle changing priorities and circumstances with ease. Existing managers, or experienced reporters looking to level-up, will both be considered.

We are a constantly evolving company, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop the business and shape the path Media Drum World takes as it expands into new markets, both in the UK and overseas.

Necessary Skills:

• Minimum of two years within the agency environment
• Can source original content
• Can ensure team targets are met daily
• Has a knowledge of how to negotiate and close editorial sales
• Ability to manage, inspire and support colleagues
• Experience of handling a network of international contributors
• Confidence to represent the company internally and externally
• Passionate, intelligent, organised, presentable
