Employment type: Training leading to possible full-time role
Applications are now invited for the Daily Mail/MailOnline sports journalism training scheme which will begin in September 2019.
We are looking for journalists with an interest in sport, particularly football, who want to work for both the Mail newspaper and the world’s biggest English-language newspaper website.
Our trainees embark on a year-long programme that involves intense training, assessment and on-the-job experience at regional daily newspapers and agencies.
Trainees will need to be prepared to work for a round-the-clock operation. There will often be nightshifts, regular weekends and they will be covering national and international sport at a fast pace.
The successful applicants will probably have a degree and will have shown a commitment to sports journalism by writing for their student newspaper or website and gained work experience in newsrooms.
The course starts in September with an intensive in-house training month during which the trainees are introduced to Mail style and culture.
It is followed by five months placement – on the Mail in the Glasgow or a regional daily paper - after which the trainees will join the Mail sportsdesk.
Trainees will be on the best journalism course in the business and paid a salary while they train. Nearly all are offered staff jobs at the end.
To apply send a covering letter, your CV and the three best examples of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday March 15, 2019. Please specify in the subject of the email that your application is for a sports trainee.
Please mention HoldtheFrontPage when applying for this role. This advert will expire on Wednesday 27th February 2019.
