HOW does working for a media company that still holds local authorities to account, attends court on a daily basis and has an office based in the middle of its gritty news patch sound?
The multi award-winning Rotherham Advertiser has been serving the borough since 1858 and prides itself on being independent from the large newspaper groups, which means we write all our own stories and design all our own pages from our new town centre office.
If you can deal with the demands of juggling deadline days for two papers a week while monitoring and interacting with readers through a website, social media, email and over the phone, then you could be the person we need.
You will need the ability to provide accurate copy and have an eye for an angle, a working understanding of media law, courts, council and public bodies, the versatility to turn your hand to news, features, internet copy and Tweets and an engaging interviewing style.
You must also have 100wpm shorthand and be comfortable covering breaking news, crime and human interest stories for the Advertiser, sister paper The Weekender, website (www.rotherhamadvertiser.co.uk) and social media accounts.
The role of full-time senior reporter at Regional Media Ltd offers a competitive salary and all the advantages of working for one of the country’s few remaining independent newspaper groups.
