Senior Features Writer
The Yorkshire Post
|Posted: Fri 18 May 2018||Closing Date: Fri 25 May 2018|
|Employer:||The Yorkshire Post|
|Employment Type:||Full time|
Owing to internal promotion we’re on the hunt for an experienced features journalist.
This is a role for a versatile writer: as well as the thoroughly creative disposition that the best of features writers are imbued with, you will have a passion for news. By way of example: the previous incumbent brought to the editorial pass in a single day a tale of a scientist-turned-magician professing to read minds whilst hammering nails into his nose, before finishing his shift with a carefully crafted leader on Yorkshire devolution - a topic which requires a deep understanding of the politics of the region and a deft editorial touch.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate with cuttings exemplary writing agility, providing examples of work that would sit perfectly in our award-winning magazine; work that could lead our real-life pages; work that will resonate online.
At interview, you will be expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of and be able to articulate succinctly the strategic positioning of The Yorkshire Post’s tone and political persuasion.
Increasingly, features are consumed on mobile phones. Candidates who supply an example of a video feature will be given preference in the shortlisting process.
Weekend and evening working are an essential requirement in this role.
Applications should be made to: The Yorkshire Post Editor, James Mitchinson. You must enclose an up-to-date CV, a covering letter, cuttings to demonstrate your writing style and a 1,000 word feature - plus a feature VT.
Closing date: Friday 25th May.
Please mention HoldtheFrontPage when applying for this role. This advert will expire on Friday 25th May 2018.
