AN opportunity has arisen at Newsquest Cornwall (publishers of Packet Newspapers, South West Farmer and Smallholder magazine) for a highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic and hard-working reporter to work from its offices in Falmouth.
The ideal candidate will have completed the first round of their NCTJ qualifications and be coming to the end of their training within a news organisation or recently achieved their NCE qualification and looking for their first job as a senior.
Newsquest is a multi-media organisation with a web-first policy and the successful candidate will be confident writing about a wide variety of subjects to a high standard, both in print and on-line, and have a good understanding of social media.
They will also be expected to upload news stories on a daily basis to the company website as well as maintaining their own Twitter accounts and contributing to Facebook pages.
They will have experience of attending court, inquests, council meetings and press conferences and have excellent shorthand skills.
Most important though is a nose for a good story and the ability to work under pressure and their own initiative.
Other duties include taking photographs and filming short videos for the web.
A clean full driving licence is essential.
Salary dependent on experience
This role involves some weekend shift work but there will also be plenty of opportunity to enjoy living in beautiful West Cornwall.
