Job Description

Media and Communications Officer

1.0 FTE / 35 Hours per week; Grade 5, £22,847.00 - £26,341.00

Who we’re looking for:

  • A Media and Communications Officer to join our award-winning Marketing team.

What you’d be doing:

  • You’ll be responsible for most of our copywriting, including writing traditional media such as the prospectus or brochures; copywriting ads; and writing digital content for the website or socials. It also includes external relations including public and press relations.

You’ll need to enjoy:

  • Writing: you’ll need to be a very strong copywriter, and enjoy writing for different audiences and media, in different voices and levels of formality.
  • Designing concepts: you’ll have to work with internal clients to scope what the message is, what format it should use, and liaise with designers to deliver creative and effective results.
  • Influencing stakeholders: you’ll enhance our reputation through high-quality written content including news stories, developing our online reputation, and events.
  • Working to your values: we care about how people behave as well as what they achieve.

Where you’ll work:

Plymouth Marjon University is a small University with our students at the heart of everything we do. You’ll be based in the Plymouth Marjon University Marketing team, on our green campus in the north of Plymouth. Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but as the leader of this team you’d need to maintain strong campus links and be available when needed.
