|Salary:||£40,451 gross per annum|
It’s 2am; you’re on duty in the Met Police’s press office; you receive a call from a police officer telling you they’ve found a body and the media on scene…how do you react? If you have the right skill-set, experience and temperament then this could be the job for you…
The Metropolitan Police has arguably the busiest press office in the world, fielding thousands of enquiries during the course of a year.
The 24-Hour Press Bureau is at the heart of this and we are looking to recruit an experienced candidate to join our highly skilled, dynamic team - one that constantly sets the news agenda on a daily basis.
As part of your role you’ll be required to work on your own, including night shifts and weekends, and you’ll have the confidence and skills to deal with any incidents that come your way.
Whether it’s dealing with breaking news about a murder investigation in the early hours of the morning, or taking the first call about a terrorism incident that is unfolding as you speak, you’ll need to be prepared for anything.
Your role will be part of a supportive team who will lead on communications to Londoners, working on a 24-hour shift rota that includes lone working. Dealing closely with all sections of the organisation, you will be working with talented colleagues in the Directorate of Media and Communications’ news team.
You will own the development and distribution of content which tells the story about what the Met is doing to keep communities safe, how they can protect themselves and how we are fighting crime. This will include the planning, organisation and implementation of clear, timely and two-way communication through print, digital and face-to-face channels, often dealing with breaking major incidents.
A generous programme of benefits, including support for training and development, professional membership, season ticket loan and extensive sports and fitness facilities, are available for the right candidate.
SALARY: £40,451 gross per annum which includes a shift disturbance of 15% of basic salary and a London Location Allowance of £2,930. You will also be entitled to premium payments for working at weekends and bank holidays.
Please submit your up to date CV and personal statement by 23.55pm on Wednesday 25th July.
