WE are seeking outstanding reporters to cover politics in two of our regions as part of the Local Democracy Reporting scheme.
You will join the teams at Shropshire OR Telford and Wrekin and play a vital role in supporting the BBC’s public journalism programme.
The Shropshire position will be an 8 month maternity cover starting in May.
We need reporters with an excellent knowledge and passion for local government, as well as the ability to write engaging and sparkling copy.
Shorthand and a formal qualification in journalism are essential for this role.
In return, you will get to cover local government in one of these three areas at one of the most important times in our history, with the forthcoming local elections and ongoing coronavirus pandemic featuring strongly in our coverage.
The titles you will serve are some of the biggest daily and weekly news titles in Newsquest, with an unrivalled daily news operation in the regions.
As a member of Newsquest, you will be part of a network of dozens of leading news brands across the country providing 24/7 coverage of news, sport and entertainment to tens of millions of people.
The position is a contract in line with the current BBC-funded local democracy scheme. Applications from senior journalists or outstanding newly-NCTJ qualified reporters will be considered. A driving licence and access to a car is also essential for this role.
