PR account executives
|Employment Type:||Full time|
Rhizome Media, a PR firm made up mostly of ex-hacks, is looking for an experienced (and probably thoroughly disillusioned) journalist who is happy to sell his or her soul to the devil for the right price. To hell with it, money makes the world go round.
Who are you?
Ideally you’ll be a journalist with several years’ experience under your belt. But one or two years could suffice if you’re on top of your game.
Above all, you’ll be a self-starter with excellent news sense and a knack for building relationships with people.
You’ll be keen to learn new skills and you’ll make journalistic basics like copywriting, story generation and pitching look a doddle.
Finally you’ll need to be confident and articulate, be comfortable dealing with company bosses, possess a sound grasp of current affairs and above all have a nose for a good story.
A dry sense of humour and a willingness to work hard - and laugh - in roughly equal measure won’t do you any harm, either.
Who are we?
Based in an improbably hip office at the heart of redeveloped Paddington, Rhizome Media is a PR and communications agency that helps businesses grow by building their brands in the media.
We think and work like journalists (the directors are all ex-hacks) and we pride ourselves on our ability to tap into the breaking news agenda.
Our clients include a huge range of companies - from start-ups to global tech brands - and our work spans property, motoring, technology, healthcare and financial services.
With all that variety you’ll be pleased to know that our offices boast a meditation room, table tennis and all the caffeine you can handle — oh, and free bars on every floor and a whacking great roof terrace to work from on a laptop.
We also offer 25 days of annual leave, a half-decent pension and do two company trips a year - one usually abroad.
Your position will depend on your experience, but wherever you start, you’ll play an important role at the heart of a talented and rapidly growing team.
You’ll be a quick learner who’s happy to get involved in a variety of tasks - including idea generation, writing press releases and features, organising and attending journalist/client briefings, crunching data and the odd bit of crisis management.
We work a bit like a news agency, so our office is a fast-paced and exciting working environment. For the right person, this is a fantastic opportunity to turbocharge your skills and play a major part in our growth story.
Among its many perks, our office offers beer and prosecco on tap. We’re a sociable bunch and often enjoy a glass together at the end of a hard day’s PR graft.
