|Employment Type:||Full time|
|Salary:||£25,655 - £31,534 per annum pro rota (NHS band 5)|
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Communications and Engagement Officer to help our team spread the world about clinical research in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.
The NIHR Clinical Research Network Thames Valley and South Midlands plays a key role in getting research studies up and running in the NHS, public health and social care by funding staff and providing back-office support. In 2020/21 we supported staff to recruit more than 75,000 people to research studies across 30 medical specialities.
Your job will be to encourage the public to take part in studies we support, keep staff informed of the network’s activities and promote the value of a career in research. It’s a fast-paced role in a busy, three-person team that will see you work with researchers from around the region, including from the University of Oxford.
You will be using a wide range of communications techniques including media, social media, video, photography, publications and events. After playing a key role in the UK’s research response to COVID-19, you will help the network strengthen public awareness and engagement in clinical research.
You will be someone with experience in public relations, marketing or journalism or a graduate seeking your first step in a role that offers a wealth of experience in communications and engagement.
The NIHR Clinical Research Network Thames Valley and South Midlands is hosted by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.
Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.
