An incredibly rare opportunity has arisen for a talented journalist to join The Yorkshire Post’s award-winning team as our Comment Editor.

This role is the heartbeat of Yorkshire’s National Newspaper. You will craft leading editorials under the auspices of our revered masthead that set the tone and agenda for the region on a daily basis, as well as producing your own regular column which will become a must-read regionally, and nationally.

Critically, you are the point of contact for our readers who pull no punches in the letters they submit for publication, entrusting you to relay their message faithfully to other readers.

As well as being a talented writer, capable of producing pithy, incisive copy at pace for multiple platforms, you will manage a commissioning budget that you will use to bring op-eds from prominent authorities across myriad sectors and spheres of life.

A senior member of the team, you will be expected to produce exclusive stories of your own from a well-thumbed contacts book that gets your probing questions into the corridors of power and your stories into national conversations.

The Yorkshire Post is a determined campaigning newspaper; at interview the successful candidate will have pre-prepared campaign ideas that have at their core the betterment of the county. Quite how you would bring them to life digitally is key, and we are keen to hear your ideas.
