BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism
This course combines journalism and multimedia authoring with a critical exploration of the emerging field of convergent journalism.
You will take the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) preliminary examinations in years 1 and 2 and complete a portfolio of journalistic pieces in year 3, enabling you to acquire the skills to go directly into the industry on graduation. You will also learn audio, video and still image acquisition and editing, web publishing, content management, writing for search engine optimization and online interactivity – skills that are essential to journalists in a converged media landscape.
Developing traditional journalism skills alongside digital storytelling techniques, you will become highly employable in a modern media environment. You will be taught by media professionals in our new convergent newsroom to produce multimedia news packages, using a range of industry standard editorial systems.
This degree is designed and delivered in close collaboration with the Trinity Mirror Group, which guarantees every student an opportunity to undertake work-based learning within the local newspaper. You will also contribute to a student newspaper and website, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad portfolio of work to a professional standard.
