Regional journalists urged to enter national investigations award

Regional journalists are being urged to enter an annual award for campaigning and investigative journalism.

The Private Eye Paul Foot Award is now welcoming submissions for 2023.

Individual journalists, teams of journalists or entire publications may enter and entries will be considered for anything from a single piece to entire campaigns.

Submissions will be accepted for material published in a newspaper, magazine or website between 1 April 2022 and 28 March 2023.

Previous winners from the regional press include Deborah Wain, of the Doncaster Free Press, in 2007, and Emma Youle, of Archant’s investigations unit, in 2017.

Chair of judges Padraig Reidy said: “The Paul Foot Award is special because of the huge variety of entries we get.

“From blogs, to trade magazines, to global news giants – every entry is considered without fear or favour. The judges can’t wait to get reading this year’s entries.”

The deadline for entries is 1pm on 28 March. The shortlist will be revealed in May, while the winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on 6 June.
