News website opens first city centre office

A news website has opened its first city centre office after celebrating its first decade of existence.

Armagh I was originally launched by editor Micheal McKenna as a one-person operation in September 2012 and now employs five people.

In that time it has grown from a small online operation into a news website which can now boast 400,000 unique monthly users and more than 2.5m page views per month.

Now the business has opened up what it is calling its first proper home in the heart of Armagh city centre, pictured below.

Said Micheal: “We are absolutely delighted to have been able to make the move into the very heart of the community we have been serving for 10 years.

“Over those years we have worked on making Armagh I part of the community’s everyday lives and now with a permanent home in Armagh City, we hope to cement that relationship for years to come.

“While the media landscape is a challenging one, we felt we could really grow and open new doors for ourselves – figuratively and literally – by making this move.

“It may have only been a month but already we are seeing the benefits of having that presence.

“Day and daily we have visitors to the office with their stories, their advertising queries and just the friendly ‘hellos’, which have been just as important as anything.”

“We are grateful to everyone who has helped us on our journey so far and we really hope this is the beginning of bigger and better things to come.”

The new office is at 8 Barrack Street, Armagh City and is one of a number of buildings to undergo restoration work in recent years.

The business had previously been in a shared office building on the outskirts of the city.
