Independent titles commit to keeping news free after online ads boost

David WilliamsTwo independent local titles have affirmed their commitment to keeping news free after revealing a record month for online advertising.

MyWelshpool and MyNewtown have announced a record number of jobs were advertised through their websites in January.

According to their owner MyTown Media Ltd, up to 200,000 pages of news are read on the sites every single month.

The company says the vote of confidence in its advertising platform means it can “provide local news free of charge, all-year round”.

MyTownMedia co-founder David Williams, pictured, said: “It is reassuring that a growing number of companies are working with us to help them reach their target audience.

“These are challenging times for us all, so we have priced our jobs section to be a value-for-money option that is proving popular with local employers.

“We value every penny that is invested in us by local companies through advertising and it ensures that we can continue to provide quality news and information to tens of thousands of local readers 365 days a year.”
