Former editor creates works of art for football club

Stacey Barnfield 2022A former regional editor has created two limited edition artworks for the football club he supports.

Stacey Barnfield, who edited the Birmingham Post between 2013 and 2015, has created the prints that will be sold by Birmingham City FC.

One of the prints features Stacey’s interpretation of a City matchday programme from the 1961-62 season.

The other is based on a series of artworks that he has created called ‘My Colour Palette’, which includes features colours related to the club’s history.

Among the colours to feature on his ‘Birmingham City Palette’ is ‘Argus Pink’, a reference to Birmingham’s former Saturday sports paper the Sports Argus.

Both prints are available in A3 and A4 sizes, with only 50 of each size available. Profits from every sale will go to the club’s charitable arm, the BCFC Community Trust.

Stacey, pictured, said: “As a season ticket holder in the Kop with my children, it is an incredibly proud and special moment for me to see my work in the Blues Store, alongside the home shirts that me and my kids wear every week.

“The Colour Palettes started life as a celebration of all things Birmingham during lockdown and there is now a design for more than 30 places across the country.

“I’m so pleased to be able to create a palette for my beloved football club, and to be putting money back into the Community Trust, who work so hard across the city. I hope Blues fans enjoy the prints too.”
