A daily newspaper is asking readers for story suggestions in a new “ask the newsroom” feature.

Newsquest’s pro-Scottish independent daily The National has launched the initiative, urging readers to “send in topics you feel are worth covering”.

Contributions to the feature can be made via an online form.

The initiative’s launch comes following the appointment of Laura Webster, who became editor of the Glasgow-based title after a restructure in December.

Laura, pictured, said: “We want to hear directly from readers about the kind of stories they think Scotland’s only pro-independence newspaper should be covering.

“Whether it’s explaining the more complex issues or something more light-hearted, we’re passionate about creating the kind of content our readers will engage with.

“What do you love? What aren’t you so sure about? We want to hear from you.”
