Twelve million historic UK newspaper pages made available online

Mark PageA regional publisher has teamed up with a family history website after more than 12 million historic UK newspaper pages were made available online.

Reach plc has joined forces with Ancestry.com after more than 200 publications were made available on the latter’s sister website Newspapers.com.

Newspapers.com is described as the “largest online newspaper archive” and consists of more than 736 million pages of historical newspapers from more than 23,100 newspapers from around the world.

Reach and Ancestry are now offering a full year’s Ancestry All Access subscription, including an Ancestry DNA test kit, to two competition winners.

Reach plc regionals nostalgia editor Mark Page, pictured, wrote in a piece announcing the partnership: “Ever wondered how far back you can go with your family tree or maybe you’d like to discover more about your ethnicity?

“We’ve teamed up with Ancestry to give you the chance to do just that as it announces that more than 12 million historic UK newspaper pages from more than 200 publications have been made available on Newspapers.com.

“The pages across a variety of publishers, including Reach plc, provide details on historical events, individuals and other fascinating insights into the news and culture of the time to help people discover more about their family history.”
