A regional publisher has scored a hat-trick of victories at an annual podcasting awards.

DC Thomson claimed three prizes at the 2022 Publisher Podcast Awards, while Reach plc also triumphed in the category specifically dedicated to local podcasts.

DC Thomson claimed Best B2B Podcast, for its Energy Voice publication’s ‘Out Loud’ programme, while ‘Author In Your Classroom’ was named Best Books & Literature Podcast and ‘The Bunkered Golf Podcast’ took home Best Sport Podcast.

The Dundee-based publisher had received a dozen nominations in total for the awards, while other regional press productions were also shortlisted.

Christopher Phin, DC Thomson’s head of podcasts, said: “Our journalists are learning new skills and finding ways to get closer to their audiences.

“We’re building momentum and ensuring that commercial thinking is baked into the very beginning of new show development.

“It’s been a phenomenal year of growth and experimentation, and it feels like we’re still just getting started.”

Reach plc’s ‘Brummie Mummies’ triumphed in the Best Local & Community Podcast category.

The podcast is hosted by Zoe Chamberlain, parenting editor at the Birmingham Mail.
