Regional journalist quits GB News for top comms role

Kevin LarkinA regional journalist has left GB News after landing a top communications job.

Kevin Larkin has announced his departure from the organisation to become head of policy & communications at the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Kevin, pictured, was poached from the BBC to cover Yorkshire for GB News as part of a raft of regional appointments made ahead of its launch last year.

The station’s founding chairman Andrew Neil, who has since quit the channel, stated a regional focus would be “vital” to the new project.

Kevin joined the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, an organisation dedicated to supporting the UK’s former mining communities, last month.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: “I’m really pleased to have been able to achieve my childhood dream of being a broadcast journalist and it has been an absolute honour to report on the best county in the country, Yorkshire, for 10+ years.

“As always when you move on it’s the people you miss most and I’ve been lucky to make so many friends at GB News.

“A special shout out to my fellow reporters who I’ve worked with to deliver the founding vision of strong journalism led by the regions.”

A replacement for Kevin has yet to be unveiled by GB News, but Yorkshire is also covered for the channel by former Hull Daily Mail journalist Anna Riley.
