Publisher wins a dozen nominations at podcasting awards

Alison Gow newA regional publisher will compete for a dozen prizes at an awards ceremony honouring podcasting.

DC Thomson has received 12 nominations at the Publisher Podcast Awards, which honours the best podcasts in the publishing and media industry.

Archant, JPIMedia and Reach plc have also received multiple nominations for podcasts produced by their journalists.

‘Energy Voice – Out Loud’, the podcast of DC Thomson’s Energy Voice title, appears in four shortlists – Best Commercial Strategy, Best B2B Podcast, Best Limited Series and Best Sponsored & Branded Podcast.

The publisher’s ‘Walk to Wellbeing’ podcast, in which famous people share their favourite walks, is shortlisted in three categories – Best Commercial Strategy, Best Podcast Launch and Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast.

Reach’s ‘Brummie Mummies’ is also up for a hat-trick of prizes after being nominated for Best Podcast Launch, Best Lifestyle Podcast and Best Local & Community Podcast.

A number of the shortlisted podcasts are part of Laudable, a Google-funded project aimed at helping Reach plc and JPI turn podcasts and other audio content into a sustainable revenue stream.

The winners will be revealed at an awards dinner on 27 April.
