A regional publisher is to increase the cover price of 26 of its newspapers from next week.

According to Better Retailing, Reach plc is making the move at regional titles across England, Scotland and Wales.

From Monday, the price will rise by 10p on the Monday to Friday editions of the affected papers.

The same increase will apply to Saturday editions from Saturday 2 September.

Reach has confirmed that the profit paid to retailers on each copy sold will increase pro rata, Better Retailing has reported.

Titles affected include the Birmingham Mail, Liverpool Echo, Plymouth daily The Herald, the Teesside Gazette, Western Daily Press, Western Mail, Newcastle daily The Chronicle and the Manchester Evening News.

HTFP has approached Reach for a full list of the affected papers.
