Newsdesk boss honoured for life’s work at journalism awards

Jim TiatA newsdesk boss who spent almost half a century with the same newspaper has been honoured for his life’s work.

Former Shetland Times news editor Jim Tait was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at this year’s Highlands and Islands Media Awards.

Jim, who continues to write occasional sports features for the Times, previously won Feature Writer of the Year at the same awards in 2015.

He also collected the award in 2020 when the Times was named Newspaper of the Year.

Jim, pictured, was presented with the Barron Trophy at a ceremony held last Friday (6), in Inverness.

The awards also saw Aberdeen daily the Press & Journal, Highland News and Media and the West Highland Free Press each win a brace of prizes.
