A national political journalist is moving to a new regional press role covering Westminster on behalf of his native county.
The Yorkshire Post has unveiled Daily Telegraph politics reporter Mason Boycott-Owen as its new Westminster correspondent.
Yorkshireman Mason’s appointment comes after Caitlin Doherty, his predecessor at the Post, left the Leeds-based daily to join political news title Politics Home.
Mason has worked for various titles including The Times, the New Statesman and Politics Home, Glasgow’s Herald & Times Group and PA since 2016.
Announcing his new role on Twitter, he wrote: “After four lovely years at the Telegraph I’m off to the Yorkshire Post as its new Westminster correspondent in the lobby from August.
“Can’t wait to get started with a great team at Yorkshire’s national newspaper.”
Telegraph political editor Ben Riley-Smith added: “Our loss is Yorkshire Post’s gain.
“Many congrats Mason on the new gig and thanks for all the endless hours reporting on the fall of a PM.”
