More jobs created as publisher launches second new title in a week

Marina LichtMore journalism jobs have been created after a regional publisher launched its second new title in a week.

National World has announced the launch of People World, which aims to cover people in the news including celebrities, royals, sports stars, politicians and reality TV stars.

The website will be edited by Marina Licht, who edited Cosmopolitan Bride magazine and has also worked for titles including OK! magazine.

Marina, pictured, will part of a four-strong launch team and National World says it plans to recruit more journalists to the project in 2023.

The move comes after the publisher launched football news website 3 Added Minutes earlier this week and also revealed it is exploring a takeover bid for rival group Reach plc.

Marina said: “We are delighted to launch People World where our visitors will learn more about the people making the day’s headlines.

“They may be celebrities, royals, sports stars, politicians, or reality TV stars. They might even be totally anonymous… until now.

“We will tell you who they are, why they are trending and whether we think they’re ‘hot, or not’.”

Mark Thompson, director of digital content for National World, said: “With the launch of People World and 3 Added Minutes we are entering an exciting era of introducing new brands that provide a content-specific offering to many diverse audiences.

“We have been able to build an exciting team for People World with journalists who are full of energy and ideas along with a deep understanding of what people really want to read and watch.”
