Investigative reporter wins top business journalism prize

Martyn McLaughlinAn investigative journalist at two sister titles has been honoured for his business writing with a top national award.

Martyn McLaughlin, has been named Local/Regional Journalist of the Year at this year’s Headlinemoney Awards.

Martyn, pictured, serves as investigations correspondent and columnist at National World sister titles The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday.

Hannah Baker, of the Bristol Post, was highly commended in the category.

Martyn posted on Twitter: “Really chuffed to win this award at the Headlinemoney Awards.

“Thanks to the organisers, judges, and my editors at The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday.

“Sorry I couldn’t make the ceremony in London – I’m buried in spreadsheets for a story, so you’re probably having a more fun night.”

Martyn’s Scotsman colleague Emma Newlands was also shortlisted, along with Mark Casci, of the Yorkshire Post, and Scottish Field’s Peter Ranscombe.
