Former daily editor working on new journalism training project

David Powles 2022A former editor is working on a new journalism training project – and is calling on newsdesk bosses to help with it.

Dave Powles has announced he is working on a new scheme for the National Council for the Training of Journalists’ e-learning platform, examining the work media organisations do to understand their audiences.

Dave, pictured, has taken on the project after leaving the Eastern Daily Press in September following a six-year spell in charge of the Norwich-based daily.

He is now urging editors and news editors to come forward with their experience of learning about their audiences.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: “Do you or does your title truly know or understand the audience it writes for?

“I’m working on a project for the NCTJ’s e-learning platform and am interested to hear from news editors and editors on the subject.

“I’m particularly after examples of some of the ways media organisations have learned more about their audience and what the benefit from doing so has been.”

Those interested in participating can contact Dave via his Twitter page.
